Default What should I do to my 2005 Civic LX?

Hello,
I recently purchased my second Honda, a 2005 Honda Civic LX. I absolutely love it! I went to a Hot Import Nights car show this past weekend and now I have the bug in me to work on my car. I am not sure if I want to work on the audio side of it or if I should work on the engine? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

it is really up to you. People can infulence you so much but then it is up to you. Me personally I would make it handle extremely well then work on the power then the exterior, interior, and audio....but that is just me!

Yeah, that's a good idea - work on the handling first.. I haven't done anything yet to it. I keep on jumping back and forth from what I want to do. My main fear is that I am going to do something that is going to screw up my warranty. I have the 7-year, 100,000 mile warranty. I saw you bought a shorter shifter. I don't know that much about the interior of cars, where did you get it? How much was it? That would be an easy modification, right?

Most of the time (< please note the most, Im not to firmiliar with the EM civics) a short shifter is a difficult install and may play with your warantee if you take the tranny to be serviced due to a malfuncition. With a short shifter your are actually more prone to miss gears due to a lack of leverage.

Any lowering of the car will void your warantee so youre limited to strut tower bars which really don't do much. You can maybe get away with a cat back exhaust it will depend on your dealer. You can for sure change out the muffler to a "fart can" or if you rather a "performance style muffler"

A cold air intake/ short ram intake is acceptable by many shops as long as it has a place for all plug ins and sensors that fit into the OEM tubing. If you hydro-lock the motor with a long ram intake (one that goes threw the finder wall and into the front bumper) I'm sure you will need to remove it and make sure to never mention it was on your car.

It's very important to keep ALL OEM parts.

A system or change in the factory speakers is acceptable, however changing out the OEM head unit is not. Kind of a weird deal there. You will need a RCA adapter to make them work with your amp.

Changing wheels is a good start.

Good luck,
David

yeah with you still being in warranty you are very, very limited to mods you can put on. For my eg6 the short shifter was very easy.

I have the Euro 2006 Civic and I will be modding it up. I have limited cash after buying brand new but I will be concentrating on handling first, then ICE, then outward appearance. Here is a Brit Honda forum if you wanna see more Euro Hondas - 2T Honda

do audio first and if you still like putting money and pay the car payment at the same time than start with rims then intake then exhaust then buy that time they will have a body kit for your car do that than the rest is cake.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all of the input. I have been doing some research and started thinking about changing out the tires. My friend is a manager at Discount Tires and would be able to find some really neat white rimmed tires-my Civic is white-and put those on for me at a discounted rate. I hope it wouldn't look goofy. What do you all think?
