Hey guys... im still having a problem with my civic. The idle is still jumping around... im not soo sure what to do. And i certainly dont want to go to a mechanic and get ripped off. The problem only occurs when its at a hot idle.. its fine when it starts up from cold but when you drive on the freeway and get off thats when the idle jumps around. Any suggestions?
Thanks! ~*Samantha~* |

A simple check to do for anyone with more than two limbs, unhook your intake tube from your intake manifold. Just inside the throttle body (big hole facing the passenger side of the car)(stated this way because I don't know your skills), There will be two little holes. With the car running, and the symptoms acting up, put your finger over the hole and see if this changes your idle.
One important question I do need answered is, Does the idle drop to the basement from a certain RPM, or does is just sit and bounce between 3 or 4 hundred RPM variance? This would be helpful.

the map would cause the vehicle to act weird but it would thorow a check engine light. But with the air intake temp. sensor that would cause the system to bounce up and down due to inacurrate readings in temp as well as vaccum. And the loose cable is a good one too!

Hi guys. I am new to the Honda family and did a search on "Idle" because my wife's 94 Del Sol is doing the same thing.
The idle speed bounces between 1k and 1.8k rpm. Her car is a 1994 Del Sol with the VTEC and it is a 5 speed. 162000 miles and I dont believe the motor has been swapped or molested at all. Help the new guy please.
