yesterday i was driving a little harder than i usually do and my check engine light went on. at this point i was like **** but everything sounded fine and it ran the same. i got home and i turned off my car then turned it on again and the check engine light went away. i have no clue what happened... maybe someone else does

You may have pushed one of your sensors out of parameters when you were driving hard. Then if you cycled your electrical system, if the sensor was within the allowed ranges, it would have turned off the light. I would get the codes checked, make sure it was just a sensor, then let it happen again before you do anything.
