OK folks, I'm new to the swapping realm and no a bit about hondas but I'm far far far from being an expert. Which is better for a turbo application into a 2000 honda civic ex? B18 or B20 and if B18 vtec or non-vtec. I'm wanting to make somewhere in the 300-325hp range and frankenstein B20's are OUT of the equation lol. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the time =)

well here's the next part to that...What's the advantage of vtec if I'm boosting. The extra "umph" isn't gonna do me any good AFTER 3k rpm or whatever it takes to kick in if I'm already gettin my butt whooped from the get go. I like the idea of an LS but why add the vtec portion? Wouldn't that be extra money spent unnecessarily?

i will go with a ls-v but dont forget to get a new gsr/type-r oil pump and a gsr water pump
i am building a motor for my self but im looking for a gsr block. the gsr has oil jets that shoot to the pistons. and i will be putting ls pistons so i can boost 14psi that will be like 350+hp and dont think that this will be cheap i didi my math i will be at $1000+ and i have a itr head i have the turbo kit ,tranny i still need money to go tune if you dont tune your car then dont builda motor it will never run good and will be a wast of money. |

The B18C block is actually a better block than the B18B. It's just more expensive. The B20 is a weaker block because it has been bored out. If you want to be cheap and just throw on a turbo as quick as you can, go for the B18B. If you have the money, you will get more power out of the B18C. Why? Pretty simple, VTEC has more flow. More flow = more power. And when you are racing, you would never dip below the VTEC threshold. So if you can afford the VTEC route, it is the way to go.
