To swap or not to swap?

I own a 01 EM2...i want more power but i cant decide whether to swap the K20 which will cost me close to 9g's and out me around 213 whp with minor building. Or i could turbo the stock D17 motor which is a hell of alot cheaper and i can make the same power gains or better with proper tuning and building although its a SOHC unlike the K series motor....what should i do???!!!!

I say save up for an K20, b/c you will have to factor in other cost and parts if you turbo the D17... and reliablity.

I agree with albpimpin, putting a turbo on a stock motor is normally a bad idea. There's alot of things that need to be done to the motor in order for the turbo to not blow the motor apart.

Turbo would work but it bsically maxes out the D17 at about 220 whp, with the K20 you will have WAYYYYYYYYY more potential..and lets face it you will eventually want more power. also think about what you really want, in the long run, better to get what you want in the first place dont BS with stuff that only tides you over, get what you want.

k series is probally the best motor, but there are tons out there, and for $9k you could probally get a b16a and a vortech supercharger and have 277hp

although it would probally not be as reliable as all motor

IMO, the k series might weigh more to, like the H22, and that could affect handling, but thats just speculation.
