Get a haynes manual and it will show you how to set the timing correctly. Its really an easy task

First of, your car has a timing belt, not a chain. I don't think Honda switched over to chains until they invented i-VTEC (about 2000).
Look online for a Honda factory manual. Some people will have them as an Adobe file you can downlaod for free. Either a Haynes or a Honda manual will tell you what you need to know.

I don't think timing is all that hard. I haven't done it yet (my 'Teg needs a new belt soon, so I think I might just learn), just make sure you know exactly what you are doing and double check your timing marks.

its easy make sure the up on the cam gear is up and the arrow on the left side of the back cover line up with the mark on the cam gear. line up the arrow on the block with the crank gear. start with the belt on the crank gear and go to the water pump up around the cam gear then the tensioner. the slack should be on the tensioner side. rotate the crank counter clockwise so the cam moves about 3 to 4 teeth. use the arrow on the back timing cover to count the teeth. tighten the tensioner. then rotate engine about three to four times. make sure all ur marks still line up. after that if u need to tighten the belt a lil more loosen tensioner bolt and pull up on the arm on the tensioner and retighten bolt. and what i usually do is rotate engine a couple more times and recheck marks. u should be good to go.
