DON'T BUY THE HIGH FLOW CAT!!! They don't clean as well as the stock cats and you run the risk of fialing emissions (an OEM cat is over $1000 and the HF cats I've seen are about $200+). The stock cats have lots of precious metals in them that clean up the exhaust gasses. The HF cats have the same metals, but in much smaller quantities. They will flow better, but won't clean as well. And considering I was able to fail emissions in a stock Integra (in Delaware) you may want to be wary about going th HF route.

Unless your car really stinks when it's idling, it's a heat shield. You can smell a dead cat converter. When I was smogging my Silvia yesterday, the whole test bay smelled of fumes. I knew it was going to fail right away (that's from the turbo tune, not the cat converer). Sadly a broken headlight prevented me from geting a temp tag.

I did forget to ask. Where are you from silver? Does your state require emissions testing?

Not some places in Louisiana! It is usually major cities that require it.

My car had similar symtoms just a few weeks ago. One of the rubber mounts for an exhaust hanger was worn. I replaced it with new and the rattle stopped. I would check the cheap solutions before dropping big dollars

I stand corrected. Of course it would make sense that the Deep South wouldn't care (I've seen some of the cars on the road there. Well not Lousiana, but in NC and WV. Yikes. Then again, there are cars everywhere that shouldn't be on the road).
