You can drive stick and you are planning to swap in a stick later on. Fine. Case closed. We can move on now.

usually when a car surges its the iac valve so you should clean or change that first if problem continues change the o2 sensor however if your check engine light isnt on i doubt its the o2 sensor last but not least if the problem still continues get a spray bottle pour some water into it and spray around around all your gaskets if you see bubbles thats your problem
good luck with the surge man i had the same problem in my 95 delsol si

Dude, it's your tps (throtle position sensor)
I just changed mine and I'm good now(93 civic). If its not that try changing your map sensor. Hope I helped.

I like Primes answer, but I would do the MAP sensor before anything else. When the engine is on, touch all of your spark cables if it gives you shocks, that is the reason (kind of painful). sometimes when the cables are worn out or by any chance cut, they will throw electricity from there and your car will stall.

BTW what's the deal with auto's? what does it have to do with the problem?
