i don't really understand what you're asking. Are you asking where the VTEC is in your car? If so it's the whole Head set up. and idk about the controller sorry

You can't feel it? Oh that's right, the 2001-2005 Civic is a POS! Don't waste your time trying to buy a VTEC controller for that motor. It's a runt. The VTEC is mant for fuel mileage, not horsepower. Try a K20A2 (RSX-S) engine instead.

Not trying to be mean, but it's truth. Check out the "All VTECs aren't created equal" article on the site, and you'll see what I mean. If you can find a K20A2 (make sure it's an A2), it should bolt right in and will give you waaaay more power than any mods to your stock engine. Sport Compact Car did a K20A2 swap into a 2002 Civic Si. You have the same basic engine bay, so it should be the same. Plus your car will be a lot lighter than any Si that's been swapped (actually even stock it will be faster than the JDM Type-R). That's where you should spend your money, not trying to control your fuel sipper VTEC.

I think factory VTEC is set low on those cars, something like 5K rpm or less (I really don't know). if you really want to stick with your current motor, you could get a different cam that's actually performance based. Then you will find out where your VTEC is set.

Mine kicks in at 4500 and contrary to popular rumors it is actually a strong motor once you do a little work to it.

Like any motor you have to pay to play...the K20 is a good motor but you have to buy it and then buy what you want for it.

For less $$$ you can put all that money in the 1.7 and have fun....and have money left over for a half tank of gas!

Yeah, you can do some things with the 01-04 v-tec [not K20a2] but its not like the older v-tecs. Hell you can work my D16y8 v-tec alot more than those econo engines. Save your money, do suspension work, and work on shaving the pounds off your heavy EX.

You can do a lot to any engine. But the better the base, the more you will get out of it in the end.
