I saw that at the top. The Si uses a B16. I don't know if they use the same diameter throttle body, but if they do, then you can make the pipes themselves line up with the rest of the engine bay.

No the cold air set-up for the EX, SI won't work on a DX. Not unless you want to spend an entire day cutting your new pipes and making a custom mount bar. I don't know about the LX however....not many of those around and people tend not to tune them.

eBay Motors: CIVIC 96 97 98 DX/LX JDM BLACK COLD AIR INTAKE (item 290229245676 end time May-15-08 22:30:25 PDT)

There's you link to the ebay cold air. I had that exact piece on my honda for awhile till i upgraded to fujita. you just need to drill a hole in the side about 6 inchs higher than the stock intake and install one of these buggers [ https://www.f1products.co.uk/images/...filter%203.jpg ] , that will work just as good as a bypass valve because water is harder to suck than air. Its made for a dirt/street bike and you can buy one at autozone real cheap.

That would be very useful. Got any email.
The only thing I am wondering is that whats the difference between these cheap ones and the AEM ones which are 5 times its price.

how thick the pipes are. basically keeps the air a bit cooler on its way to the engine. Also the filter that comes with it is horrible, as soon as it comes in toss it. Go to autozone and order a K&N one in the same size, this will be about $50. Buy the other cycle filter as well, it will be $15 you don't need a good one. other than that you need a drill for the second filter, a socket set, and about an hour and a half. Where are you located?

The CAI or the bypass valve? The bypass valve is more expensive because it just slips in the middle of two pipe sections. No cutting or drilling required. The CAI is more expensive because A) you are paying for AEM's name, B) they use slightly bigger tubing and will gain slightly more power, C) they have one of the best air filters on the market and it is part of the kit, and D) their intakes are CARB approved which means they will pass emissions in any state. Although I think Cali is the only state anal enough to care about CARB certs.

The CAI on ebay [$50] is 3 inch tubing, more than enough for a DX. Add in a K&N which is a perfectly respectable filter [$35] or for $15 more buy a AEM filter. Add alittle modification for a bypass [$15] and you have yourself a true 3 inch cold air for $100 bucks. The AEM short ram for the DX is $135, and the CAI is $249 for the basic version w/out bypass valve, and $305 for the bypass valve version. I mean this isn't as pretty, nor can you brag you have AEM. But you have **** close performance for an easy $100 less, now you can brag about that.
