Just do it right, rebuild it with the right parts, and don't boost it more than 15psi anyways. But remember once you car has more power you'll soon need to replace alot of parts. The tranny will go first, clutch, flywheel, and gears. Thats alot of money to rebuild with parts that can handle the new power. You may have to replace the axles, and new brakes would be a good idea with the new power. Not to mention suspension and sway bars to fight the torque steer. But its your choice to turbo it. With a swap however the only problem is the last, torque steer. What i'm getting at is, tune your ride, but before you do think about it. And your car may be alot faster than you think, go to a SCCA novice school. Learning to drive your car on an AutoX corse when its stock is hard, but rewarding. It will also show exactly what needs to be mod-ded on your car. Take it one step at a time.
I am going to look up that SCCA school, but I have changed my idea about turboing it though. I might need money and knowledge that I don't have, so I am going to go with small mods and know my car from there.

So far, I am just going to change the exhaust tip, bolts, and maybe look up into my header.

All good idea's. I recomend Cold air, it gives the D16 a great sound. Buy one cheap off e-bay, and just replace the filter that comes with it with a quality peice. You'll get a nice hp+ and nothing bad can happen. And the SCCA website has the listing of events. Just go to a local AutoX event, the guys their may give you some grief but they'll help you with anything. And before the end of the day you'll be alot better behind the wheel.

Look around this site a bit. There's plenty of info on what to do first. The most recent post would be about the 1994 Del-Sol. It has the same engine as you, so you can use the same parts.

Another question. What's better for something stock, the usual CAI, or the short ram one? A friend of mine had a short one for his 98 Civic EX and it made a really nice sound.

Also, which is the cheapest place I can find one?

Ok, true cold air is a hell of alot better than a short ram. About a 10-12hp increase compared to 6-8hp. However since the true cold air sits so low [in the fender] you can't go through water. Cause if it goes into a puddle and sucks water your engines done.

Ebay is the best place to find a decent cold air. Make sure to ask if it has a spot for the sensor, and that it stainless or powdercoated.. You'll pay $30-$40 bucks tops. However they're so cheap because of the cheap filter. So just go down to pep-boys and buy a K+N kone filter for it. This set-up will cost you $100 tops, compared to atleast $150 for a name brand short ram with less performance. Good luck with the tuning.

P.S- After install let the car idle for atleast 15 mins to let the ECU adjust to the new higher air flow.

Buy a bypass valve for your CAI. That will prevent hydrolock so you don't have to worry about driving through puddles.

A short ram can be just as effective as a CAI if there is a vent for it. I set my filter right over the stock intake snorkel which helps. But I was too cheap to do a full CAI on my crappy Integra.

Bypass valve? I never thought of that...would have come in handy back when i was rallying my GTI....And yes a short ram over stock snorkel works well. But on ebay you can have a full CAI for the same price as Short ram so why not go for the gold?

Well, I am checking right now and all I see are aluminum based CAIs for EX/Si's.
Will an EX/SI CAI fit on my LX or it has to be LX based.

I didn't use Ebay. AEM makes a rather good byapss valve that opens when the intake sucks in water.

No an Si part won't fit your car. Well an intake might fit with a bit of finessing, but the Si has a B16 and you have a D16. I'm not sure about the LX, I don't know which engine it came with. That intake might work too, but again it would probably take some wrestling.
