in all honesty keepin the oem air box actuall gives better hp output then after market intakes for all motor applications which is why spoon sports always uses stock intakes on their cars

oh and stock exhaust gives better back pressure which results in better hp then after market exhaust for a d series. when u switch to a b series thats when you'll see a boost in power by adding a bigger exhaust system

imo the only way to make good power from a sohc is to boost it- ive seen $1100 make 300hp from a y8 and a home-made turber kit

Spoon Sports has to keep stock air box in the class of racing they do. The OEM air box will not give you power over a long ram intake however it does prevent hydrolock (water sucked threw the intake into the cumbustion chamber of the piston) this is a pretty rare occurance if you don't live somewhere that water is standing pretty high and AEM makes a "by pass valve" which prevents a lot of hydrolock.

Stock exhaust gives you back pressure, yes but it doesnt give you another kind of pressure that actually is what causes power. Your car will have 1.75 inch piping, if you go to 2.25 you will have notable power gains.

Your best power (for the money, if boost is out) will be to do a VTEC head (such as a Y8) or a D15B (JDM) head.

You know I hear alot about it ...but I live in the southeast so it is always raining or sticky hot and on all my Honda Motor products I have always had cold air intakes on them and never sucked any water up...even when driving through Savannah...which for those who dont live there...the streets tend to flood a LOT!

What are people doing...driving into lakes? Or am I just damn stupid lucky?

Most of the cases of hydro lock I've read about happen from people in lowered cars hitting bigger pot holes enough the bottem section of the filter is in the water.
