Ok, when you open the distributor and remove the rotor button, tell me what you see. If there is a little box-trapezoid shaped thing with a wire connector on it, then that is the electronic ignition control module. It takes the signal from the position of the distributor and sends it to the computer for fuel timing. However these tend to be quite expensive and I would hate to tell you to change it on a hunch.

I did find out that Honda does not use crank sensors. Another simple thing to check is the fuel pump relay. This will take the help of an assistant. When the car is acting up, have a friend stand beside the gas filler neck. Remove the gas cap and place his ear next to the inlet tube. Turn the key to the on-NOT START-position. He should hear a mild rumble for about 3 to 5 seconds. Do this test about five times in a row. If it fails to make a noise all or some of the times, replace the relay. If it continues after relay replacement, then the pump is failing.

I did the test by listening at the fuel neck. I heard a little whine all 5 times we tried. I checked for spark with the plug wire and a screwdriver. Had no spark. What's next?

If there is no spark then there is a problem with the coil pack. But to be certain, wrap a wire around a screw driver and insert it into the plug wire. Then take the other end and tap and rub it against a clean unpainted metal surface in the engine bay while someone else cranks the car. If it fails to spark then replace the coil.

I took the coil out to check if it was shorting on the housing, But it looked ok. Where is the ignition module?

1 of 3 places. When you take the distributor cap and rotor button off, they sometimes put them there. Sometimes you will find one on the fender, and a few car makers put them on the firewall behind and under the intake. Most likely it is in the distributor. Look for a small black or gray box with three or more wires coming out of it. Usually about a 1/4 inch thick and about 2 inch by 2 inch.

It could be slightly out of time. Check by adjusting the distributor slightly and slowly one direction and then another. If it makes absolutely no difference either way, check for a overworn timing belt.
