it does not matter how many miles are on your car. you can switch to synthetic at any mileage. if you have a vtec motor i would not use lucas synthetic oil stabalizer. it is to thin and may cause problems with oil pressure being to low and vtec to not engauging properly. i use mobil 1 in all of my hondas, even my type r motor.

Well you changed early enough.
EFR is wrong. You should never swap your motor between synthetic and conventional oils. I know this because as an ex mechanic I have replaced three engines damaged by such by people who did not know any better. Now that you are running synthetic in it....keep doing it. I would also recommend to stick to the same brand as well.

Well if I still worked there I could show you the remants of the engine.
It is really simple was someone explains it to you. Take yourself for example. Say you go through life eating whatever you want. Then at age 35 you decide to become a vegatarian. You cut out all meat ,fish, poultry and even dairy cause it comes from animals. Your digestive system will crash during the change but unlike motors people have the ability to endure pain and adapt. Motors do not have that luxury. Conventional oil contains particulates that are not found in synthetics. Once an engine has broken in and become 'used' to oil with these particulates...which cause microscopic scratches in the surface of the cylinder walls, among other things...one of the first problems you will encounter during a change over is excessive oil comsumption. The problem starts out minor with the first oil change because there is still some remants of the old conventional oil in the motor...but as changes add up the particles are removed and the finer structure of synthetic easily goes by in the scratches. Dont take my word for it, read...What Is The Difference Between Synthetic Oil And Conventional Motor Oil? So now you have a motor that never leaked oil before and now it is leaking/burning oil! An individual can have a car that never burned or leaked oil and after a few oil changes can go to as much as a 2+ quart comsumption per 3000 miles. When you add in the fact that most people who pay to change thier oils do so because they are too lazy to do it themselves...they likely dont check fluids either. So you can starve the motor of oil. On some older cars the seals will be another area of concern. As seals age they become stiff and brittle. When a small leak develops alot of times it is the same particulates in the oil that act like a clot stopping this before it is even noticed sometimes. Change over and the same happens...remove particulates and you remove the clotting agent. There are other things to avoid other than changing oil types. By adding 'oil additives' like compression restore and other off the wall stuff you are doing more harm then good. The engine was designed to run a certain viscosity of oil....without all kinds of walmart add ons...so not only dont change oil types dont even change viscosity and attempt to stick with the same brand the entire time you own your car. The three motors we replaced were in the 50,000+ mile range...and one was a Ford so a pos from the factory but still... You will also get lower oil pressure out of synthetic than with conventional oil...read Synthetic Versus Conventional Oil- Car Craft Magazine I actually seen this on a rebuild motor...blew my mind! One last note...check the oil manufacturers websites...they will say something like..."all our oils are compatible but however we recommend not switching between oils except when new or on rebuilds...'
