Honda Feline - You didn't say how long it's been since you replaced the anti-freeze/coolant in your engines cooling system. It should be drained, flushed out with plain old tap water (unless it's really dirty and/or having heating problems I really don't believe in using a cooling system cleaner/flush), and new coolant serviced every two years (& not more than every three). When doing so I recommend using distilled water (like with a steam iron) in the anti-freeze mix rather than plain tap water as tap water can build up deposits in the cooling system (thus blocking up the water passages like clogged arteries) and the distilled water will not.
If you have recentlly drained, flushed, and replaced the coolant...and the coolant in the radiator is pretty green (as you indicated) but the reservoir/overflow tank was also green but has quickly gotten dirty then I suspect that you didn't flush out the reservoir/overflow tank (a common error). The tank is simple to remove, flush the crud out of, and reinstall. If you don't already have one, check with your friendly neighborhood auto parts store and invest in a Hayne's manual for your year car as it should have all the necessary instructions to do this and a lot of other minor servicing/maintenance items that owner's can handle. ![]() But, the coolant system is a bit off the original subject of this thread so, if it is a problem of interest, it should become the subject for a new thread. |

Oops!! Sorry about that Accord Feline, the slip in addressing you as Honda Feline was unintentional...just a slip of the fingers on the keyboard (and a bit of brainfade).
Hope you'll forgive me. |
