Default 07 Si front glass

In case you are reading my posts, I am a new Si owner and have had a few quirky questions.

This one is - any hints for cleaning the glass behind the speedo??

I am finding it to be a very tight area to get into and had gotten some Armorol (I know I know - don't use Armorol), but regardless, I got some on the glass and trying to get it off in that area was a real pain!

I finally was like laying down across the dash from the passenger side and got it pretty clean, but was wondering if there was a better way. Any special tricks that you know of to get back there??

Also, if not Armorol, then what???

Thanks,

I use stoner's window cleaner and a microfiber window cleaner to clean my windshield.

My brother got hand prints up in there once, and I eventually ended up cleaning it when I removed that part of the dash.

Other than that I've tried just covering the top of my hand in the MF towel, and clumbsily rubbing it against the windshield, which eventually works.

I heard that you should use some window cleaner, like stoner's (which i think is very good) and not a microfiber window cleaner but newspaper!

Default Stoner's Cleaner?

I don't think I have ever heard of Stoner's Cleaner here in Michigan - we use the old Windex. Also, my favorite paper product is paper towel. I really don't get much lint on the glass and my hands don't get all inked up from the news.

It's not the actual cleaning of the window cuz I have cleaned many MANY car and house windows in my day. It's the physical act of getting my hand (or something else) between that little wedge of speedo and the glass without having to do any gymnastic tricks

I tried to use a long plastic spoon with the paper towel on the end of it and there just wasn't enough umph there to quite get it. To me, that is one area of poor design on Honda's part. Physically it looks good, but the functionality of cleaning behind there was not taken into consideration - in my opinion.

Thanks for the info about the cleaner - I'll have to start looking around for it in the auto parts store.

I've used newspaper with the stoner's (which I got at autozone) before and it works great.

As for reaching back there going in from an angle works slightly better. Maybe one of those swiffer duster things with a paper towel w/glass cleaner might work?

I think the design is okay, honda realized that that part of the glass doesn't get dirty very easily, and it is not vital to seeing the road. They could have done more, but the long windshield and speedo location don't give them many options.

Default Swiffer duster

Someone mentioned to me today at work about one of those swiffer duster handles. That may just do the trick

Thanks for the suggestion

That or take an old putty knife with some duct tape to soften the edges...

Default Putty knife?

Have you actually tried that??

It sounds possible . . . like it could work. I'll have to try out the suggestions this weekend on "cleaning day".

Thank you all - it's good to get a few different peoples perspective on things because I sure was at a loss on what to do here

yeah I take a putty knife and tissue to clean the dust out of my vents and all the little cracks in the panel sections of the interior!
