Okies, here we go...
so after a week or two mulling over what bolt on to add first, it seems to me the easiest to deal with is intake.... SO... i understand the cold air thingy (no short rams, get a snorkle thingy)... but my real questions are -- is there benefit to upgrading the intake manifold itself (other than making it chrome)... seems me and my buddy can do that work in his garage...(upgrade the intake)... Im trying to get more power, but not make it loud... so trying to stay away from catback, ect... (feel free to bash my ignorance, i know i have a lot to learn)... any input is appreciated.... |

Okay...the main purpose of an Intake is to pull in colder air into the combustion chamber for better fuel mixing and more power.
The best way to acheive this is to put the filter and inlet outside of the engine bay where there is less residual heat. If you go with a normal bumper-fender location DO NOT remove the inner fender liner. This keeps water out of the filter and out of the engine where it will do mega harm! As for a catback...you can still get one that is quiet. I have a model by nopi called the stealth and in normal driving it is only very slightly louder than stock...but when at full throttle and vtec...she growls! Look around at shows and see some cars with them on and listen to the sound. Once you find what you like ask them what they got and that will give you a good ideal of what to get. ![]() Oh and welcome to the club geokain!

i actually think that the weapon r short ram is the best bcuz it has a tube that runs from the short ram to where the cold air intake would sit and u can sumhow open and close that tube so no water or anything gets inside ur engine and ruins what u got runnin under the hood .. but CAI dont get AEM cuz ur jus paying for the name.. Injen your prolly paying for the name too id stick with a name brand but less popular name brand like tenzo or weapon r that way it wont be as much money so ur not really paying as much for the name.. and Geo Welcome To HondaClub

Iceman was the creator of the term cold air intake. Back in the late 80's early 90's AEM was making just short rams with long rams on being legal on the track.
Iceman came in and got there longer cold air intake to pass emission testing and to denote the difference they coined the term cold air...which everyone uses today to descibe a longer two piece intake. You can find the at places like... jc whitney...Sport Compact Air Intake Kits & Systems at JC Whitney
