My last car was a 92 civic si, i loved it, it was great it had a carbon hood, angel eye lights, altezza smoked taillights 17s, spax suspension, pioneer sound system, the list goes on. anyway one night i was racing a friend of mine and as i came round a right hander, i lost control and hit a bank which sent me into a barrel roll, that was the end of my civic. After the crash we found that a part of the front right disc had snapped and locked in the caliper, has anyone else heard of this happening or experienced it themselves before?
I guess the lesson to be learned is that before you go ahead and spend money on styling/engine mods you gotta make sure the important parts are in good order! |

I have heard of a cross drilled rotor splitting and a chunk flew off and sliced the right front tire down...but I wasnt hauling ass at the time so it just ruined my tire and rim...and of course the brake rotor
since then I only deal with slotted... i now know that drilling..."ruins the structural integrity and allows lateral seperation"...as the manufacturer explained to me avoiding liability. ..check the fine print...somewhere it will say off road use only...i literally had to use a magnifying glass to see it on my paperwork and i wear glasses!

I've also heard that the crossdrilled rotors actually run hotter than slotted, because the airflow through the vents gets messed up by the holes.
