Question 07 Si OIL LIGHT flash!

Hi, everyone.

Twice over the last few weeks, as I'm shifting, my oil light comes on for about 1 second and goes right off. It's only happened twice since I got the car in October. Both times within the last 6 weeks or so. Secoind time was this morning.

The oil level is fine and I was told to have the first oil change at 3500 miles. I'm at about 3000 now.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Of course, I will ask about it when I bring it in.

My first thought was that you were low on oil due to oil burning, but you said the level was fine

I've had no oil problems yet, '07 Si with only 760 miles

The level was on the low side of acceptable. According to the Honda mechanic, the Si and S2000 engines use up oil and sometimes need to be topped off in between oil changes. It was more than a quart low. I'm getting the first oil change done this week.

that may be it, maybe the pressure changes when you let up on the gas to shift, making the oil level seem even lower for a second

I guess so. It hasn't gone on again, so far. I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks for your input!

There was a guy there who owns a BMW 5-series and a Honda at the dealer, too. He was admiring the Si and asking me questions about it.

I'm not sure, but it looked very recent. I don't follow BMW models too much.

So far, no more oil light. I had no idea that the engine burned oil. I can't be the only one...
