You can put an aftermarket HU in there, but you have to get a different dash panel.

There are no RCA hookups on the 06 civic HU, not sure about 07

I was going to put a system in my car an 06' Honda Accord Coupe Ex and the place I was going to near me said that they can hook it up right to the back of my stock head unit. I know I have a very good sound system in my car and that I doubt it would sound bad. The new Honda's come out with awesome systems nowadays.

I can't speak much about new car's system but I got a pioneer head unit for xmas and the sound is amazing. I had people ask if i bought new speakers or something. The sound quality reminds me of the sorround sound in the movie theaters, its great. (I still have ****ty speakers, which i will be replacing soon) My advice is go with a pioneer.
i believe i got a sommething 4800. Theres a 5800 that brings a couple more features and then theres the premier.
ps: take your time and do the research, you dont wanna be stuck with something that sounds worse than you stock unit.

To do what you specifically ask (speaker level to RCA) you will need an adaptor like this one...
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/3794.html
I am sure many other companies make these. The best ones have varible output (so you can match the proper optimum voltage for your amp)....

If you want something more sophisticated (and more money) .... this is the active device that will do the same thing:....
JL Audio: Products

personally - IMHO - if you have the $$ - clean sweep is the way to go.....

For my car, my husband just hooked up wires together and used monster cable also, there was no adapter used. It was all done in half a day, everything on my deck is still stock and the car sounds great. What kind of sub did you get or you still looking.

Yea, your best bet is to go buy the aftermarket dash panel, the 06-07 civic and civic si's dont have rca inputs.

still no RCA hookup on the 07's (I looked), but if you do go with an aftermarket HU collegehillshonda.com can get you a dash piece that will fit single / double din units

JL Audio puts out something called "clean sweap"..if u wanna keep ur stock head unit i would go for that..its a little on the expensive side but well worth the money
