Default insalling a head unit in 05 civic

just bought a 2005 honda civic ex. tryin 2 insall aftermarket head unit. how do i get the factory one out . it apears as if i have to remove the entire dash. if anyone has a schematic or knows where i can pick one up,let me know. this is my first honda so please excuse my ignorance.

I think you just remove the old head unit, pictured in red, and put the new one in there. I'd recommend Cruchfield.com for fitment details, but pretty much any din1 or even din2 head unit should fit

yeah i got the wire harness adapter and the dash kit to replace the stock unit . the problem is getting it out the face plate arond the area in red is held in by more than just clips and i dont want to damage it. i'll try crutchfield. and see. thanks.

oh sh^t, I think I found a head unit install guide, but it does not look fun.

note, the guide is for a RHD Civic, and the wrong year, so it may be useless

This looks pretty close but i don't think it is the same as my dash, i have a 05' civic EX, it will help though by giving you an idea, i think they both come out in the same fashion though.

i had the same problem with my civic there are 2 screws under your unit right under the lighter and then you just pope the whole thing out not the whole dash though and then you should be able to replace it
