Check out youtube. There are a lot of vids on there for building your own sub box. All you really need is MDF Dowels and Fiberglass. My room mate builds Sub boxes for his car all the time. He has OCD when it comes to the type of box he wants or audio equipment so he is constantly making new boxes to fit new subs. I think hes going on 24 different boxes now. The easiest boxes are going to be MDF and carpet. But you can get rather creative if you do a fiberglass box. The downside to a fiberglass box is the cost, and all the sanding and painting.

Check out JL audios page they can give you all the dimensions and area you need inside your box for what size sub you have. If you can't find what you need drop me an email. My little brother has a full listing of sub sizes compared to their box sizes.
As for the design, it can be just about anything you can think of as long as there is enough area inside the box, cause your sub needs room inside to breath. I'm currently building a box for my 15" JL sub. Also being put in a 93 Sol haha. Just make sure you don't shatter your back window when its down! |
