It depends there too. Do you talk trash about how fast your car is? Or does somebody rev on you at a stop light? I make import guys feel great all the time driving the wife's civic. They'll rev on me at a red light, then take off and "beat" me....you know, flashers and all. But then again, in her 04 civic ex w/ an automagic, I didn't go over 3500rpm when I accelerated. I didn't want to race them. Its a waste of gas, I can't afford the ticket, I don't want to put the public in danger, and my wife is pregnant.....I really don't want anything to happen there.

The only thing done to her car is Silverstar bulbs, plus its an ex, so it has the factory "bodykit" and a factory spoiler. Am I a ricer?

I wouldn't call you a ricer... if that was me at the stop light and you didn't wanna race me, I would think you leave it to the track.

I have one question... do you all think your car is the fastest import? do you think that the performance parts you use is what the professionals use in their imports?
... or we are imitating professionals? I got to be honest I am not a pro.. I do stuff myself but I am not a pro Mechanic or racer.
I used to dig underglow and spoilers with big shinny rims in my jetta with tinted windows and a looney toons sticker on the back saying no fear... and yes I used to race that 92 jetta back in the day stock engine.
Why was a ricer? because I loved driving and speeding in my transformer jetta? why would anyone care what I drive!

This is very interesting! Two weeks ago I never heard the term "Ricer". That was a great essay, on a subject that sparks alot of passion, and debate.

The one example of racer vs. ricer that stands out for me is when my boys (I have 3) and I played Need For Speed (the video game) I always went for the performance mods first, and all 3 boys would go for the "Glitz"! After they got thier butts whooped they figured out looks weren't everything!

So I guess you could put this thing down to growing up, and where you are in life, and what you want, personal choice again.

My personal choice is #1 reliability #2 performance #3 Looks

But then again I'm an old f**t! And I've broke alot of stuff!
'cause crap! It has to get me to WORK(sorry for that four letter word)!

Like I said originally, the car has little to do with Ricer vs. Racer in my mind. To me it's the attitude of the owner and what he or she knows. For example, one of our members, doughboy, drives a car that most people would call ricey. But he knows a hell of a lot more about how to build a great show car than I could ever want to know. He doesn't pretend to be the fastest thing on four wheels, and while his Accord has a body kit, chrome rims, and crazy paint, he keeps it clean and looking great, and for that I give him great respect. He has put a lot of effort into his car and it shows. I would 100% say that in spirit, he is a Racer, even if he doesn't race his car.

Talking

you think that because he is your buddy and you know him... let's pretend you don't know him at all.

It's late for you to get to school, you turn on your teggy and set off to work... on your way there you are driving about 70 miles per hour on the highway.

"Dough" gets up starts his accord.. he was supposed to be at work at 8am and it is already 8:10am, boss had told him he was gonna get fired if he was late again. he jumps in his accord with crazy paint and rims, etc. and leaves in a rush to work.

you two pair up in the same highway... but you are going at 60-70 MPH and since he is so late he fly by you at a crazy 100mph... what would you think? a carshow car speeding over you... would you get to your school and explain everybody that a very knowledgeable driver just was late for work? nooo he would be that ricer!... and him speeding over you... would be a "Ricer FLY BY"

So how can we call someone ricer just because of him wearing his sunhat backwards or him being azian with a fart can...or even them talking crap everytime.. what if that crap talker actually can build your honda from scratch?

I am sorry if I just say somethings the way I think them without being a little nice... but for me bottom line is, some people are fanatics, some people love so much Fast and the furious that they go by the movie.. we have enthusiasts, we have everything... at the end is your love for what you drive period nothing else should matter.

well to be honest I like my riced out honda civic
I love the way it looks
and I love even more the way it drives
when somebody on the free way passes me all fast
I dont mind I just mind my own bussiness
but because my civic is all riced out
I get people wanting to race me at every red light

haha okay okay and this is what I always do

I rev mine and they rev theres
then when the light changes
they go burning out and I just start out normal
hahahahaa and it sooo pisses them off
