Nice Article!...

I remember when having a body kit in your ride didn't make you a ricer, it was actually the cool thing. As people grow old they forget what the old days were like! when west wing was the hot thing.

I think it is a matter of choice, I know people with freakin wings on top of their EG6's that are pretty damn fast, I feel like racing a wallmart shopping cart. but they perform good so thats all there is to it. Sometimes people go more for how your car looks than what it performs, 'cause they are not interested in performance, they feel that driving at 60mph is fast enough!. I think that is a great thing, less accidents. Now that JDM is around and we all wanna be in the 7's now we call slow people with exterior tunning, RICERS. that is alright I guess. As for people bragging what they got and pretending to be Toretto, well... I would just go for "Line it or zip it" (stolen line).

So I guess what I am trying to say is that just 'cause you dont like it, it doesnt has to be wrong. just cause we hate body kits and D series (jk I actually been beaten by a D) it doesnt have to suck. Don't go by the book!

(I mean no hateful intention to anyone)

In my eyes all show isn't a ricer. Some people just see no reason to be fast they just want their car to look badass.. Ricers and people who make their cars look worse than they do stock, or people who act like they can smoke anything in the world but can't drive worth crap

Eileenspoon, I see where you are coming from.... I dont like the fact that people are calling everybody with a bodykit, Ricers, but everyone has their own opinion. I agree with you, I know some people with "riced out" cars that are very fast and others that are complete garbage... and thats where the line is. You are a ricer if your car is completely stock except for exterior mods. These things do not make you faster, but give these kids a big head making them think theyre fast. Plus these parts are made from crappy materials. So I dont think people are saying " no exterior modding", theyre saying "do it with some taste".

And with everyone wanting to an engine swap, that is simple. People who dont drive Honda/Acura, hate on Honda/Acura. They talk s*** about engine size and "theres no replacement for displacement".... so we want to be prepared to show the "overcompensating haters" that they dont know what theyre talking about

One of my buddies has a '96 Mustang Cobra. The other day I told him my best pass with the Sil-Eighty (13.8 @ 105) and he said it would give his Cobra a run for his money. But then he also muttered "well you do have a power adder after all." I told him he had 2.6 liters of engine on me, so the turbo is justified. There is a replacement for displacement and only now are the muscle guys realizing that it's worth a look. I think a few 7-second Hondas has changed their minds about turbos and imports in general. I think that in the future the import scene will be more like the muscle car scene: all the best cars are not only really fast, but very stylish too (just looking at HOTROD's annual paint and body issue will tell you how serious they are). I've always held the opinion that the best cars have a good mix of style and speed. Also remember that originally body kits, wings, and splitters were all designed for race cars. Unfortunately there are a few people who didn;t care about the performance and just wanted the look. This is where ricers came from. With more and more people wanting both speed and style, only the true race bred parts will stand out. Look at drift cars: huge wings, big rims, lots of carbon fiber. Would you call them ricers?

Yeah, some of the import guys are pretty hardcore performance. I've never seen so many imports running fantastic passes down the strip. I remember when low 15s were pretty dang good. The scene has come a long way.

MMM I guess you drive what you want to drive, and should mean no offense to anyone as to what they like. if somebody likes 17 inch rims with a big wing and a D13 engine... I think is "choice". As for me, I know my car is'nt the best looking car out there, I dont really care about looks. The best cars for me, are missing the whole interior and have the floor cut off with Slicks 2 bottles on the back and a turbo so big that you had to tear appart your front end.

but that's a personal choice, that is why I think we should respect everyone and stop calling names, to the eyes of a muscle driver, every honda/acura driver is a ricer, plus I kind of find that offensive to asian people.

no i kind of got into confusion first when i read it i was about to call everyone with underglow and big rims a ricer but after reading the posts im thinking if theres a such thing as ricer because its really what a given person likes i just in a big confusion now i mean maybe the guys that wanna race and show off just because they have bodykits and stuff on and they think that their cars are fast just because they look fast i might call that type of guy ricer but im really confused i guess the best way to figure it out is to just think it over few times
