i dont think a racer and a ricer are different people.. i beleive we all are ricers and develop into a racer.. Im sure everyone of us has had a POS first car and we have done at least one thing to it that we would now call rice. My first car was a 91 integra.. i put a "Skyline" body kit on it.. i thought i was bad ass and that the car was 100x faster then it originally was and floored it red light to redlight.. I drive an S2k now and hardly ever drive fast in the street. I actually have my STOCK air intake I beleive its just a matter of time until we grow up... and then theres those people who dont grow up.. but thats a different story

Well when you put it like that...Racers and Ricers all start from the same place. But racers grow up. Ricers don't.

Great article, beaters. That kind of club is what I am looking for. There is a car club on my college. The CCSU car club. It is a pretty nice club but what I dont like is that the meetings consist of people talking at the same time. While I am on my first year, and I am pretty much a noob there, I have to say, they can improve on several things.

One of the other things that I don't like is that they concentrate on the advertising aspects of the club. They get sponsors, car shows and everything but not much in terms of actual circuit racing.

I have a stock D16Y7, which I plan to put a Cold Air Intake soon. Yeah, not that much power but I plan to learn autox with it, and I feel I am not going to be able to do it there.

We need to have more clubs like that.

Well you can turn a club around. I was invited to this club called "Extreme Whips" they were all ricers but they had some skill. So before we accepted we went to an AutoX event. Lately I've been driving my winter beater '98 impreza 2.5RS, so I just took that. The best car in the group was a '99 3000gt VR4, when I beat his car by 3 seconds they didn't know what to do. Since then we've been racing alot more, the stero systems are out to reduce weight, and one kid took off his lambo doors...[i hate those].. this group was full of ricers, when they saw that they werent as fast as they claimed...they changed. A few of us are going under the name "Scarred Racing" cause our cars aren't perfect, but we love them anyways. I went to a show the other day and this kid popped the hood on his dead stock '93 eg dx...people started making fun of him, so i walked up and nodded my head, and asked him his plans with it, the instant he said he was going to gut it, and buy nice tires for his steelies, i shook his hand... the problem is the ricers try to beat down beginner racers, so most kids give under the peer pressure....we just need to lift them up again.

In my opinion people who care about looks and performance are true 'Tuners', ricers want to look like Tuners, racers want to compete with Tuners. To have a balance of both is rare, thats why the cars that both Racers+Ricer adore are ones made by professional companies like HKS, or Mugen....cause those companies have both racers and ricers building the cars together, so you get looks with blazing performance.

P.S.- The R32 had the RB25 engine[i think], i do believe the RB20 turbo engine comes from the GTS-T skyline [aka FR version]

100% agree i just like cars that look good and performe good hate to see only look good with a beat up engine

in my opinion the car does not have to have bodykit and spoilers and c/f hoods and stuff to look good if could be a stock car that performs good and still has its unique look as a stock like Supra i think it looks grate and its performance is not any worse
