Well I originally went with a painted hood molding to match the blacked out front end of my Civic. However the southeast weather was not that nice to it.
To change one out all you need is: 10mm Socket and Rachet Flat tipped Screwdriver New Hood Molding Optional tools: Rag (to protect paint) MP3 Player (time flies with music) This is what it currently looked like... ![]() So after a little searching I found H and A Accessories dot com - Genuine Factory Honda and Acura Accessories at discount prices. Accessories made by Honda and Acura for your car where I could buy a factory painted colored matched unit. Here is the step by step process to change out the front molding... First step is to remove the factory unit. It is retained by four nuts... ![]() and then carefully remove the center clip...you will have to insert a straight screwdriver that is small enough to fit into the hole to depress the plastic clip... ![]() Once the unit is removed this is what it will look like...why not clean up the area! ![]() Installation is just the opposite of removal...just insert the center locking pin...and then carefull close the hood so you can center the unit before replacing the nuts. Here is a pic of the finished effort... ![]() Here is the other for reference... ![]() Total time it took was about 10 minutes and the unit only cost $22.93! A bargain and an easy change to remove the tacky chrome piece! It is often these small little detail items that are overlooked or postponed to a weekend far off in the distance...that can take an okay look and to good look by tying in everything together!
