what kind of vtec does the h22a have then?

I believe it's got the performance VTEC.

d16y8 has a three stage?? anyway to make it performance?

I don't think the Y8 is 3-stage. I think a new cam would make a performance VTEC.

which cam would work well with a stock internal engine? still reliable and street able??

If you get one of the stock performance VTEC cams and the ECU, it would work fine. Or any stage 1 cam. Skunk 2 is pretty good for those.

EF (1992-1995) Civic Si, probably a few middle level EJ Civics and Del Sols.

Does the d16z6 fall under only having the larger cam profiles on the intake side as well?
