I'm reposting the 7 Rules Of Mt. Akina in this thread as a reminder to all. Tell 'em to your friends, it's good info. Rule #2 is the biggie for this thread. And 100% true.

Rule #1: There is no reset button. Real driving takes real skill, not bouncing off other cars/the wall. And unlike NFS, there is no repair marker
Rule #2: Don't race. Driving and worrying about winning together might kill you. See how many people wreck just driving normally? Now add the whole stress of negotiating the touge with someone else breathing down your neck and you may find out how true rule #1 is.
Rule #3: Respect the line: See those yellow lines in teh middle of the road? Netwon's Third law of Physics says that a body hauling ass hitting another body head on hurts like a mofo. Fortunately there is a little yellow line that keeps most other bodies away from you. Keep to it even when you can see the other side, because your reflexes will always keep you on your side when you get caught in a panic.
Rule #4: Late apex everything. It's worth the 10th of a second to keep living. Driving new roads means you don't know what's coming next. Driving the same stretch everyday all your life? Real roads change daily and if you treat them like they don't it tends to hurt. Rick Mears (4-time Indy 500 winner) never drove the same stretch of racetrack in his life. He always negotiated every corner like he had never seen it before.
Rule #5: Left foot brake. Takes some practice, but it'll make you faster and keep you from Newton's wrath when some idiot is in blatant disregard of the third rule.
Rule #6: Read ahead. The next hundred feet of road are more important than what's under your hood. Even F1 cars need some room to slow down.
Rule #7: Drive humbly. The second you think about how great you are rule #1 usually comes into play soon after.
Rule #8: (My Rule) You can't drift your Honda, Subaru, or Corolla (yes even the AE86). Chirping the tires is not drifting. Besides, drifting is for little girls. Real men Rally.

If you drive with these in mind all the time, whether on the street or the track, you will be able to avoid about 80% of the problems you could face. I wish someone would start making kids read these to get their licenses.

hey maybe you should write a latter or something with the idea of adding this to the test? by the way it would be smart to have memorized these rules and obey them

I usually stick to the track, but I cant say I havent done a few highway pulls to see what others have under the hood.

Can I just say that I like Kristin and Civic's Signature lines!!!! Thats hilarious!!! Make me one! =)

That said, Im trying to encourage all of the hardcore street dragracers I meet to try auto x or to to a real race track. Once you do that, you get addicted -- you dont see much of your cars potential on the street there are too many other things going on which also makes it dangerous.

i agree but there is one problem where i live. all the tracks are getting closed up by people developing around them. there is only one track that is worth the gas to drive all the way to it.... and thats a 20 min. drive. i fear that if it keeps going there are going to be alot more deaths around my area. there are already rumors going around about them closing that one because of noise complaints.... what were they thinking when they moved next to a race track?? peace and quiet?

That is usually what happens and they wonder why there is a lot of street racing.
