I have (had) a 2000 Accord. Had been sitting for 2 days. Before my daughter took it back to school I checked all the fluids and cleaned the battery terminals. Afterward it wouldn't start, wouldn't try to start. Rechecked the terminals. Seemed OK. All other stuff works, windows lights, etc. Battery is at 12.5V. There is 12.5V at the starter. When attempting to crank the engine there is no voltage at the starter solenoid. Is there a starter relay and if so where is it located. In addition, on the dash to the right of the cruise control button, is a red light that is now flashing. Don't remember it even being there. No clue what it's for. Couldn't find anything about it in the manual. I don't see the car very often any more so much is forgotten. A little help would be appreciated.

I don't have an accord, and don't know much about them specifically. Is there an alarm on the car? Perhaps when you unhooked the battery it triggered a starter kill linked to the alarm? Again, just trying to throw ideas out there.

these do have a starter relay which is located in the fuse control box under the hood. What you could do to make sure that everything is okay with your battery. Take it to Kragen or Napa or whoever is close to you and have them load test the battery. If the battery checks out to be okay. Then the next thing would be to check the fuses and test the relay resistance (which is 0 if it is not working and 1 when it is)

one of the problems on hondas that i've come across is that when the battery dies, the alarm goes on the fritz. Disconnect your allarm and re connect it ot reset it, and then try starting the car. Also, the fuse box under the hood will have the relay for ignition. check that as well. you should here it click when starting the car.
