Question 03 Accord rear brake rotor warping

I have an 03 Accord EX V6 auto. I just replaced the pads and rotors (with Honda Parts) and the rotors didn't last a week before they started warping again. I live in Germany and I ususally run between 80-90 MPH sometimes up in the 100MPH on the Autobahn. The vibration isn't bad at low speeds but once they get hot the rear rotors will shake the car apart. I have looked on line and I didn't see any website with cross drilled or slotted rotors for this car. One company, Power Stop Rotors, said they will take stock rotors and cut slots in them to help cooling. Brimbo didn't list any rotors for this car.

Any help would be apprciated.

Get the alignment checked. Also have the calipers check too.

Did you replace the rotors? or did you simply have them cut. Having them cut will in turn make the rotors weaker. Also, i would recomend, slotted rotors, not drilled becuase drilling holes in them will make them weaker as well...

How ever, your rears should not be warping, only the front should. It is not a good idea to be pounding the breaks at that speed, you should try gradually applying the break.

Also. When you wash your car, you should make sure that the rotors have completely cooled off. If you hit them with water when they are hot, they will warp, even in the rain. And after you wash your car, they shoudl be completely dry becuase applying breaks on a wet rotor can also warp them.

I don't understand why they're getting so hot? You said the REARS are warping? The rears don't do that much of your braking. I would guess that since it's heat that warps your rotors, and you shouldn't have THAT much heat, you must have a caliper pin hanging up or something. I would recommend lubing your caliper pins that the caliper "floats" on. I just don't think you should be getting that much heat back there unless you are driving around with one foot on the brake as hard as the other foot is on the gas.

Hope that makes sense. Good luck.

actually i just noticed you said rear rotors. How do you know its the rear?. The rear brakes (when driving foreward) only account for 20% of the stopping power.

few things I would check

another mentioned the caliper slides. (highly recommended use a waterproof silicon lubricant)
I would also check your E brake cable. My car the cable seezed up on the passenger side and was draging on the rotor. This damaged alot of stuff.

I would also look at this link

Performance Parts and Accessories Catalog - Auto Parts Warehouse

I would use a slotted but not crossed drilled rotor and I would also use ceramic pads with beveled edges. ceramic is much nicer to the rotor and last longer and stops better

You can still "cut" your old rotors. I used to do that when I worked in a machine shop. Good luck getting one these days. And uh, I don;t think he's purposely pounding on the brakes at 100mph. That's just stupid unless you're a fearful driver. In any event, the OEM rotors are not the best. Why people constantly buy all OEM parts is beyond me when you can save cash and get quality in aftermarket parts. If you're clocking those speeds on a regular basis, go with slotted rotors in the front- where as you said 70-80% of the stopping power occurs. The rears, get ceramic pads from your local parts store. Many people get slotted or cross drilled and never top 90mph and that's just a waste of money.

Old news I know, but I feel the need to jump in.

Is the parking brake stuck on? I had that happen with my Intgera (lever was down, but the cables didn't release). After 3 miles city driving, the rear brakes were smoking. However this was a 19 year old car. Still, even a little sticking at 100 mph will cook the brakes.

People buy OEM parts because on new cars, that's all you can install without voiding the warranty. Sometimes you can't even install them on your own, the dealer has to. Read the fine print or it will kick your balls.
