Exclamation parking lights will not work????????

it is a long story to tell but I will try to explain all i did... First started when I installed a power cap for my stereo.. few days after I noticed ZI had no rear lights or parking lights????? So I checked all fuses. One was blown So i put another in and it blew instantly.. went home and checked all bulbs... Then decided to change all bulbs... Now when I put my small light fuse in , my right side markers stay lit even with car off... I replaced switch inside car lighting relay switch, dimmer switch and all bulbs.. When I put a small wire straight from battery to hot wire for my lights it gets really hot... I still have no lights and need some ideas... Oh one more thing is they are projector headlights... Stock rear... I got no power at all running to my parking lights... or have dash lights..... Need some help here... anything and any ideas wll greatly be appreciated.. Thx alot guys

You have a melted wire somewhere....

The reason for this is when you first replaced the fuse and it immediately blew the electric current is flowing very fast and very strong...

And with them staying on the circuit is compromised somewhere...which also points to a short...the bad thing is that you are going to have fun tracking it down...it can be anywhere in the light harness!!!

The first place I would check would be in the dash harness behind the radio...a hot wire may have been close to the factory harness and got a little too hot and bridged over overloading the light system...

easiest fix would be to backtrack the wires to a good spot and then match up the colors...if all else fails check the back of the haynes manual...it should have the wiring schematic in it.

Exclamation major light meltdown

well what is weird is that it only melted together the wires that lead from my switch on the column.. and it is only a foot long.. What i do not get is only like 6 inches was melted and I looked the best I could at all the other wires and I do not see anything else melted at all? chime does not work now. And now i have no cluster lights on my console... I got most of it wired so that my heater lights work and all my hazard light and rear defroster light will light up when i hit my switch to parking lights..but there must be a few wires that run into the cluster that run the lights? Cuz i tried each wire individually and one puts seatbelt light, battery light, each turn signal.. So I do not know now. hahah all lights from the schematic are red and black wire.. and or course a ground.. It is back feeding somewhere but tracking it is kinda bugging me beenm doing it for 3 days now. hahahah

To get to the regular cluster lights wires you will have to pull out the cluster and the white plastic piece behind it because the cluster just runs off of clips between the two pieces...you may find some more damaged wires back there.
