help: whinning, light static sound from engine of accord 97??? - HondaClub.com

...does anybody have the same experience? there seems to be a light whining, static sound coming from the engine of my accord, usually when i accelerate...would anybody know what i need to have fixed? where? thanx....

Do you have an aftermarket sound system in your car? Because if so, I've heard that same sound you're describing come from the speakers. It sounds differents as you go up in rpm. I have heard rumors that it has something to do with your spark plug wires interfereing with you sound system.

you might need a new alternator, usually a sign of it is whining.
