Unhappy Tranny Problem - Help?

I have a 94 accord unfortinatly auto, but with a lot of mods, restoted it after two wrecks( not by me). My TRANNYY slipss in 3rd and 4th gear, i cant figure out what it is, i got told it was the timing belt???? i dk y, maybe the tranny itself cuz how old it is, when it switches from 2 to 3rd the rpms go flying up? and eventually grabs on to the 4th gear. If i could get some suggestions thatd be great.

Has the tranny fluid been changed recently? That is one of the cheapest fixes to attempt

I did some research, from what I can tell the old accord ATs often fail between 110,000 a 150,000 miles, and cost about $1000 - $1300

I also found the following information about 94 accord problems:

Quote:
Automatic transmission: Cars with high mileage may begin to shift more harshly, which may be corrected by adding a bottle of Lubeguard conditioner to the automatic transmission fluid. (1994-96)

Just a FYI for anyone else with this problem, the Lubeguard did improve his tranny except when its really cold out.
