Honda S2000
Most people desire a car that allows you to take the top down and drive with the wind whipping through your hair. Most people also desire a car that looks classy and goes fast. Well, if you’re most people, Honda has designed a car for you. It is the Honda S2000.
This roadster sports car was developed from Formula One racing. It provides the average consumer with the speed and feel of a sports car, while remaining on public highways and roads. It offers drivers a 2.2 liter lightweight, VTEC (variable valve timing and lift electronic control) engine with 237 horsepower and 8,000 RPM, taking the car from 0-60 in under six seconds. The six speed manual transmission along with the drive by wire throttle system, will give you the feeling of outracing your competition as you cruise down the highway passing cars along the way.
Standard features of the Honda S2000 include sportier, leather seats giving you the feel of being in the driver’s seat at the Indy 500, a center console that offers some storage space, an exterior temperature indicator, air conditioning, headrest speakers, and a remote keyless entry system. In addition, the sports car comes with 17 inch alloy wheels. The back wheels provide your car with the power, while the front wheels provide direction and control. The S2000 also includes daytime running lights, High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, LED taillights, and an instrument panel that allows for quick reads and easy access for the driver. In addition, the Honda S2000 contains a maintenance minder system. This tracks your cars performance, including engine temperatures, RPMs, and distances driven. It alerts you when service is needed or required for your vehicle. In addition the car provides audio controls to the left of the driver, steering wheel mounted cruise control, and power windows, mirrors, and locks.
For those consumers concerned with safety, some of the other standard features in the Honda S2000 include anti-lock brakes, dual front air bags, seat belts, and a roll bar. The front and rear of the vehicle do contain crush zones, which absorb much of the impact in the event of an accident. The sports car also contains an immobilizer theft-deterrent system, which decreases the chance your vehicle will be stolen.
One of the unique features of the Honda S2000 is the soft top, which contains a glass rear window. The top is electrical powered, so with the push of a button you can have the top down and be ready to go. The top only takes approximately six seconds to move up or down, which makes it fast compared to the competition. In addition, the soft top stays out of sight when not in use.
When purchasing your Honda S2000, you can add several features to accommodate your interests and lifestyle. For music lovers you can add XM Satellite Radio to your new vehicle, or you can choose to install a Honda Music Link, which allows you to plug in your iPod into the car and control it using your car’s audio features. In addition, when you have your iPod hooked up, the Honda Music Link serves as a charger and restores full power to your iPod. Other features you can upgrade to include a hard top, a storage rack, a cargo net for your trunk, an eight disc CD changer, and a wing or trunk spoiler. If you choose to add these accessories at the time of purchase, they are covered by the car’s warranty. Each Honda S2000 comes with a standard three years or 36,000 miles warranty, with the option to increase that warranty for an additional fee at the time of purchase.
If look and feel are important to you, the Honda S2000 sports car provides 44 inches of leg room and 34.6 inches of headroom. In addition, the car comes in nine different colors and has a metallic trim finish.
Airflow was important to the designers of the Honda S2000, and thus certain features of the vehicle reflect this. The sports car is aerodynamically designed allowing you to move faster with less effort. In addition, this design allows for a larger intake of air into the engine, providing more effective cooling for your motor. The Honda S2000 also provides its passengers with an aeroscreen that keeps to a minimum the wind buffeting.
For those individuals who are worried about the rising cost of fuel or the environment, the Honda S2000 can ease those concerns. As with all Honda vehicles, the S2000 meets the Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) standards. In addition, its 13.2 gallon gas tank averages 20 miles per hour in the city and 25 on the highway.
The Honda S2000 was first manufactured in April 1999, to commemorate 50 years of Honda vehicles. This has provided several different year models, and the manufacturer has changed things slightly over the years. Most improvements have been for the better, such as improving the performance of the engine and giving the car a more sportier appearance.
No matter what year of Honda S2000 you purchase, you are getting a superior car that has won many awards. This sports car has been featured on the Ten Best List of Car and Driver magazine. In addition, it consistently ranks in the top three of premium sports cars for dependability by J.D. Power and Associates.
A new Honda S2000 can be sitting in your driveway tonight for the starting price of $34,000. However, if you don’t want to spend quite that much money, you should consider buying a used Honda S2000. It will still give you the feel of being in the driver’s seat at a racing competition but will not cost you as much. This may be the best combination in providing you with the car you want for the price you want. Giving you the feel and look of racing without the cost or having to be at an actual track, may be what makes the Honda S2000 the perfect car for you.
