TJ, CV stands for constant velocity joint. It takes all the impact of the cars movement first. I agree that you replace the whole axels and do it in a timely fashion. You don't want to be stranded with a messed up axel and then have to pay a towing feel. If you aren't machanically enclined replacing an axel is not for you. Also, on any at home project I suggest you go and pick up a Haynes Manual for your car from most auto parts stores for around 15 dollars.
