You would be surprised. Your engine should be able to handle 8 psi no problem, and if you have a good tuner, you can push 10 psi on the stock block. The D-Series is actually a pretty stout little motor. Just make sure you have big electric fans on the radiator, spend plenty of time on the fuel system, and make sure that your tuning is spot on. At 10 psi, you can hit 200 hp. Past that and you will want a thicker headgasket and new pistons.
