Fiber optic is ok its a tad faster but you have to realize that your internet signal is not actually entirely fiber optic. Your line is only fiber optic from the main line up to the PED. Unless your backbone has been put in within the last 5 years your actuall connection is 95% coax. But if I had a choice over satellite or land line I would go landline.
There are antennas you can purchase that will allow you to leech internet from anyone with an unsecured wireless connection in your area.
