I had my previous car painted at what was supposed to be a reputable paint shop, and I did my home work on this one too. I had seen other cars that had been painted there and decided to take mine in. Talked with two guys I knew who had taken their cars in to them and their cars looked great.

So for 1400 bucks I was to get a complete job. Hand sanding, rust removal and bondo if needed, which it wasnt, full masking, primer, 3 coats of paint and 2 of clear.

The prep work was almost non existent and the paint had very tiny bubbles in it. Drips in the clear coat, paint on my rims, windows and headlights .

Because of this I was given a slight discount but all in all I was very displeased.

I decided 2 months later to take the car to a buddy of mine who had a spray booth and he let me be a part of the whole process and didn't charge me for the use of the booth. And I only had to pay for the paint.

So if you know someone who has access to a spray booth and knowledge and experience of how to use a spray gun, I would recommend doing that.

Otherwise I would spend a little extra and do a little more homework before letting complete strangers put new skin on your baby.

But in reply to your question, I know that in my area 1400 to 2k will get your car painted.
