yeah, it also has to do with your compression ratio. like the stock ratio in my car is 8.8:1 and in most trucks and SUV's its roughly 6:1. When the c.r. (compression ratio) is raised above 10:1 thats when a higher octane is needed. thats if you have cast iron piston heads. if you have aluminum heads then it is raised to 10.5:1 before the octane boost is needed. And actually the higher octane will burn faster then the lower octane. the detonation in the cylinder is more violent and causes more damage to your rings, piston, and cylinder walls. this means that a bigger explosion is produced thus doing more wear and tear than normal on your piston. also your boar will be affected. but yeah, keep it on the track and be careful. later.
