They purposly ride your butt to get you to try and speed (its a proven fact its a persons natural reaction to speed up in that situation) and I've seen cops go up to 20 mph over the speed limit for no reason at all. Also seen several of them turn on their lights to get through a redlight and turn them off after..Also I hate how schools and the government make us pay for their wreckless spending.

You are actually supposed to slow down when being tail gated, but I agree that most people will speed up.
As far as the speeding; I've heard that when an officer calls for backup the assisting vehicle is not allowed to run the lights / siren, but obviously they want to help out their fellow officer in need. Thats often why they seem to speed senselessly.
Cops also need to speed on some roads in order to keep the flow of traffic running, if you get one slow cop on a multilane freeway it can cause a major backup of traffic because almost nobody will pass him.
