Always, always the simple bolt ons. Exhaust, intake, header, pulleys, ignition, fuel system. Those are where the most gains can be had for the cheapest money.
I'm not familiar with aussie cars. Does this one have VTEC? If not, then your first mod should be an engine or head swap. The LS block has potential, but a VTEC engine will always have more.
