The manufacturers build cars that the mass population likes (hence why the EVO comes with an auto. Since you don't use a clutch pedal and shift lever, DSG is not manual, I don't care what you say). This is where enthusiasts like us need to speak up and get the OEs to listen to us. Becasue we buy a lot of cars too.
Dre is right, but Honda has never done that. which is why it would be suicide not to fix the problem. We might buy another Honda, but the people who just buy commuter cars will move onto something that doesn't pop out of gear.

The Elise does pass US tests, but is relatively unsafe when compared to most modern cars, and the costs to get to that weight are extreme.
The DX civic actually has a listed curb weight of 2586, however the Si is 2886 lbs. About 200 lbs of that is interior stuff (sunroof, stereo with subwoofer), and an extra 100 for the powertrain (thats a guess based off of the weight of the EX). Honestly thats not too bad for a car of that size, the s2000 weighs 2864 lbs.
However, the 50/50 weight distribution in the s2000 makes a big difference.
