A Civic weighing more than 3000 pounds is insane. Same with the Sentra and Corolla. I think it's sad that every time a car is updated it gets bigger and bigger. And if the Elise can pass US crash tests under 2000 pounds, there is no reason a Civic can't do the same at 2500. The manufacturers build cars that the mass population likes (hence why the EVO comes with an auto. Since you don't use a clutch pedal and shift lever, DSG is not manual, I don't care what you say). This is where enthusiasts like us need to speak up and get the OEs to listen to us. Becasue we buy a lot of cars too.
Dre is right, but Honda has never done that. which is why it would be suicide not to fix the problem. We might buy another Honda, but the people who just buy commuter cars will move onto something that doesn't pop out of gear.
