Thats a simple problem many people overlook.
Pull your deck out and look for 3 wires; Red, Yellow, and Black.
Black is obviously your ground. The other 2 are the most commonly confused wires in the bunch. Most everyone thinks that the red wire is power and yellow is accessory. Its actually the other way around. Yellow is constant power, red is accessory. Id be willing to bet that one of those wires (red or yellow) is loose, disconnected, or has exposed/torn wires. Check there first.
As far as your speedo light not working, before diving into a full wire check, check the bulb itself. It could be old or loose. If its loose, its not getting a good, solid connection, which would obviously cause it to cut out.
