take the watts from his head unit like say a 200w headunit(the sub output is gonna be 2w @ up to 4v going out) then muliply by the amp watts say 600w so then you get 1200 going into the coil people seem to forget that amps multiply the headunit watts(also don't look at max wattts just cause a speakers say 1200w does mean thats what it is when it comes to speakers look at the RMS
watts not the Peak companys sell stuff off peak watts not RMS watts but the RMS is were it all counts his 1200w subs are probly 600w RMS & 1200w peak
